Services

As a certified sleep consultant, I can help your family with various sleep-related challenges. Typically, I offer my clients the choice between the individual consultations and attending my workshops. The difference between the two is very simple:

Individual consultations are intended for people who need more dedicated attention from me or have some specific questions or challenges. Individual consultations are usually more expensive but they are more effective as you get my undivided attention. Individual consultations can be also done via Zoom, Skype, Google Meet or any other form of video conferencing.

Workshops are group trainings best fitted for support groups or parent groups. The main purpose of a workshop is to provide educational opportunities for parents that want to learn some simple techniques on creating a better sleep environment for their children and ways to improve the quality of sleep. During the workshop you may not get the answers to all of your questions but we will cover the most common problems to give you a good starting point.

Young Children

  • Your baby cannot fall asleep independently or is taking too long to fall asleep;
  • Your child wakes up in the middle of the night and is unable to fall asleep without your help;
  • Your child wakes up too early in the morning and cannot fall asleep again;
  • Your child's bedtime is very late and you cannot seem to change that;
  • Your baby wakes up at night and screams and you are not able to console them (night terrors);

A typical consultation package includes:

  • Developing a strategy and creating a detailed and personalized plan of action
  • 3 weeks of phone and email support following the second in-home appointment

Children with Disabilities

Children with disabilities are more affected by sleep challenges. It is very common for parents to take this challenge as something permanent. In the 20 years I have been working with children with disabilities I've met many parents that had long ago given up on a good-night's sleep. But this does not have to be this way.

How it works

After receiving your initial call or email, I will contact you to discuss your current situation and the challenges you are facing. The initial contact is free and will take about 15 minutes. It will give me a better idea of what type of support you may need. I will then set up a face-to-face meeting or a video call (Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, etc.) with you. During this meeting we will discuss what is currently happening in more details. We will talk about what you have already tried and what you feel comfortable doing to help you or your child sleep better. After that meeting I will develop a personalized plan for you that you will be following. I will be also providing on-going phone support for you.

Workshops & Public Speaking

Workshops are best suited for small groups, such as parent support groups. These workshops provide a comfortable environment where a small group of parents or professionals can learn more about sleep. The various topics that can be discussed are:

A typical cost for a workshop is $100 per hour, but the price may vary based on the topic or size of the group.

About

Maya Garbuz photo

My passion for working with families developed out of strong interest in overall child development, but I did not become interested in sleep until my son was born.

While trying to figure out how to help our family get much needed sleep I talked to all my friends, co-workers, and clients, and it became very obvious to me that the struggles we were going through with my son were much too common. This is when I started researching everything about sleep: from biology and sleep patterns of human sleep to various methods and techniques of teaching children healthy sleep habits.

I have worked with families and young children for more than 20 years as a teacher, parent coach, and social worker. From my experience of working with families I have learned that anyone can achieve a good night's sleep with some guidance and support. I believe that every family is unique, so my approach to teaching healthy sleep habits is very individualized: I help families set their goals and decide on the methods they want to use, so that everyone feels comfortable about the approach they use to teach their children healthy sleep habits.
